      This is a great question!

I think the most likely thing, will be that robots cars, also called self-driving cars, or autonomous vehicle, will be on the roads. Maybe you will even own one by then.

We might even see some affordable robot toys. There have been many expensive or simple robot toys before, but 3D printing and the raspberry pi and arduino boards are making this easier for anyone to invent robot toys.

Hopefully within the next 10 years, my friends working on the NASA robot will have made enough progress so that they have sent one to Mars. http://valkyrie.inf.ed.ac.uk/

I would also like to see a very large shift towards renewable technologies for generating electricity. Some countries are doing very well, but we need to entire world to do the same.

I think we will see more technologies like smart watches, that monitor our bodies to make sure we are healthy and gather data. We could prevent more horrible diseases if we track data about our bodies all of the time.

But if there is anything you would like to see, that I haven’t thought of, why don’t you become and engineer and make it happen? 🙂

I hope that in 10 years we will have current hi-tech become cheap enough for everyone to use it.

So, self-driving cars would be an everyday thing, and that would help enormously with car crashes and drunk driving.

Artificial Intelligence would be able to accurately inform and advise us on anything from education to entertainment.

I’d love to see more personal robots tailored specifically to particular people, either through learning, programming, or both.

As Siobhan pointed out, a move to sustainable energy via solar panels, wind turbines, better building design and so on would be very welcome. Having current factories go from burning coal/gas/etc. to renewable energy would help massively.

I hope some of the Elon Musk’s projects come to be mainstream, such as cheap rockets and high-speed Hyperloop tunnels which would be able to transport people cheaper at longer distances.

I am pretty sure big tech companies like IBM, Google, Microsoft, Apple and so on would come up with something exciting as well. Just watch the space 🙂

We are starting to thing about the environment more and more, and we try to come up with more eco-friendly technology.

Also, technology will also become more affordable. For example, the robot I have used to cost £12,000 when we bought it. Now it costs only £6,000. This is because companies are trying to make advanced technologies affordable for personal use, not just for industry or academia.
