I have been doing outreach for the past year and I had over 30 sessions in 10 months. When I found out about this competition, I thought that I should enter. Turns out I am having loads of fun participating in the chats and answering the questions.

I could say that these have been two exhausting, but absolutely amazing week. I do not regret being part of the event, and if I would have the option to choose again, I will choose the same thing.

I am always trying to see how my field looks from the outside. Entering this competition gives me your view on it, which helps strengthen my work and present it in a way that is understandable to more people.

I volunteer to work with the elderly to gain their views on technology as well.

Seeing that I could be chatting with dozens of people, answering your questions and taking up your ideas – that was more than enough inspiration to enter 🙂

It’s a blast so far, for sure! I’ll go over all of the questions asked in due time to pick the ideas I want to explore further. It’s important to let others see your work, and I think you are the best kind of audience for what I do 🙂

Hi Fleur, I work with a local school in Coventry, helping out with their robotics club. From that I met other volunteers who work with different schools and they told me all about this competition.

I had a look at the website and thought it sounded like a lot of fun! It’s also great to get to talk to you all and explain a little bit about my job. Hopefully it will help you with your career decisions, whether you decide to go into engineering or not.

I really like talking to people, espcially young people and especially about engineering.

Engineering has been such a big and great part of my life and I want other young people to have that same opportunity.

I noticed that most of my engineering friends, have a parent that is already an engineer, or have a close family friend who is an engineer.

I didn’t think that this was good enough, people who don’t know engineers should also get to know how cool it is and what a better way to do that than this competition where we get to speak to all you guys and answer all your questions!

Now you have all met 6 engineers more than you had before and I think that is awesome.
