A training course on styles of leadership in education. There were some good discussions, and I’ve met people from all kinds of schools, colleges and universities.

I marked some assignments for one of the courses I am teaching, and answered questions for “I’m and engineer, get me out of here!”

      Dear JJMM,

In the morning I went to class, I was learning about how we can help robots to learn for themselves, without being taught what to do. This means that they can learn to walk, instead of us trying to tell them how to walk.

Then I went another class which is all about the best way to win games. The subject is called game theory and it’s the maths behind how to win at games like chess. It’s how we teach robots how to play poker, and other human games.

I then went to my desk in the lab, where I answered emails about the European Robotics Forum which is coming to Edinburgh this months, this took about an hour. It’s boring but the conference will be lots of fun and totally worth it! Robotics companies and engineers are coming from all over the world to Edinburgh to learn from each other, share their work and meet each other.

I then worked on my own research, this meant reading lots about work people have already done and writing down notes on ideas I had.

After this I went home to make dinner and to feed and cuddle my cats.

Throughout the day I took some time to answer questions on this websit.

      Thanks
      Siobhan

      Hi JJMM,

Today was a busy day for me!

I started off with a short 30 minute drive, to the London Taxi Company, where I stopped in to meet one of my customers. I haven’t seen them since Christmas so it was nice to catch up. I was there to talk about some new robots they need for their factory.

Then I headed back to the office and wrote up my notes from the meeting. I’ll give a presentation on Wednesday to tell my team about the robots we need and work out who is going to do what.

After lunch I was off to Gaydon to meet Jaguar Land Rover about one of their new cars. I can’t say much as it will be a few years before you see this one on the road!

Then back to the office again, to review a quote for 40 robots for another customer. When a customer wants lots of robots like this, we have to get quote signed off by our head office in Italy.
