  I depends. If you think about it, each animal has its own abilities, and each one can do things that others can’t. So I don’t think you can just choose an animal that would be a good robot without thinking of the scenario in which you will use the robot.

  I’ve seen dogs and mule robots from Boston Dynamics (http://www.bostondynamics.com) those were pretty cool.
  
  As for the future… if we could reproduce how octopuses work and put that into a robot – that would be one helpful robot, indeed!

  I made a robot dragon with a smoke machine for a show once, that was pretty cool. Do you think that counts as an animal??!
  
  Otherwise I’d like a robot dog. I love dogs but both me & my partner work full time, so it would be a bit mean to leave a dog at home by itself all day. With a robot dog I could bring it to work with me 🙂
