It depends. If it breaks it can either be fixed or not.

It is best to assess your option and to see what would be the best way, to try an fix it, or to just replace it. You cannot actually tell how you will fix it. There are many things that can break and for each one of them there is a different approach to fix it.

Again, deciding if you should fix something or not, depends on loads of different factors.

It depends on the task. The damage may not be very significant to what I try to do, e.g. if the screen breaks, but I didn’t intend to use it – that’s totally fine. In fact, it may provide inspiration as to how a robot can be used without the feature that broke.

It can also be something crucial to what I am looking at that breaks, e.g. if Amazon Echo stops talking back to you. In this case, I’ll have to assess whether it’s fixable quickly. If not – I’ll need to replace the unit. If it is fixable – I’ll have to ask myself, whether it’s worth fixing it at all.

Either way, the point is to see whether the damage is compatible with what you are trying to do with your robot.

Yes definitely. I am really stubborn, so I wouldn’t be able to leave a creation broken, I’d keep trying to fix it! If it’s not fixable then I think maybe I’d use the parts and adapt the design into something new.
