Most of our robots work from a program typed out on a computer.

However, some of these typed out programs allow the robot to work with microphones and cameras. For example we can tell a robot to put a panel in the bin if the camera detects a scratch, so the car isn’t built with a scratched panel.

There’s also a new type of robot being used in car factories called a collaborative robot. It’s covered in soft foam with the idea that it can work right next to a human (normally we keep humans well out of the way when a robot is moving to avoid accidents). The idea is that the human shows the robot the task and the robot remembers and repeats it, so that way you don’t have to type a program in a computer.
