• Question: In some years time,do you think AUV robots in the future will replace lifeguards?

      Hey,

      Thats a really interesting question. I think in some ways yes but in other ways no… I will try to explain.

      Robots are really good at doing things in a really precise way and can do it over and over again without getting bored or tired but also can survive environments we cannot. This makes then great for manufacturing or going places where people can’t go easily, like under the sea. At the moment they are not very good at sensing danger, or reacting to someone screaming that is in trouble compared with splashing in a pool and having fun. Also they can’t give somebody first aid. This is mainly because these issues are much more human and “personable” which is the hardest thing to make machines/robots do.

      so my answer…. I don’t think so not for the next 10-20 years at least.
