I program the robot using C++. To make the scrip it takes quite a while. For example the algorithm I used, it was a very novel one and I had to create the model for the robot and to figure out all the equations for the walking. After that I had to do the experiment, which usually don’t go out well from the first time, so I had to go bag in the code and find the problems and fix them. So it can take a really long time.

My first algorithm took me about 5-6 months.

The robots we use to build cars aren’t able to walk 🙁 we fix them in one spot and they have a long arm that can reach and pick up the car parts and put them where they need to go.

On average it takes between 50-100 hours to write and test the code for one of our robots. In a typical car factury we will have around 500 robots all working together to build the car in a long production line.

I like the idea of a walking robot though – maybe we could put one in our next factory 🙂
